Introduction

This very ancient, contiguous property occupies a privileged position on the plateau of Sainte-Colombe with a beautiful clay-limestone terroir with marked nuances.

This small town to the east of Saint-Émilion is full of history with the remains of a Roman villa and its mosaics, as well as a historical Romanesque church from the 12th century.

A small geological fault borders the limestone slab, so that over a distance of three metres the terroir changes from limestone to sublime blue and green clays.

The uniqueness of the terroir has resulted in a hand-crafted, climate-based approach to the winemaking, with an emphasis on the soil’s impact on the taste as opposed to the blending of grape varieties as is usually the case in Bordeaux.

Philosophy

From the word go the three friends implemented the necessary means to preserve their land on a daily basis. Their philosophy is based on a culture of environmental balance and respect for the terroir. They have already obtained High Environmental Value certification and will start the changeover to organic farming next year They take a comprehensive approach to polyculture, determined to protect and improve the entire landscape in a quest for natural harmony. The wooded plots have been developed with a view to climate transition and agroforestry. 500 truffle trees have been planted (local species) and beehives installed on the property. All these actions encourage the various micro climates and thus promote natural balance.
